Special Clinics
Flu Clinics
The practice offers a flu injection to patients over 65, and to those in the “at risk” groups every year, and the doctors recommend that all patients eligible to receive a vaccination should have one.
The practice will contact all patients eligible for a vaccination to invite them to attend, however eligible patients are welcome to enquire with reception during September when we should be able to give an indication of the clinic schedule.
Smoking Cessation
There are many positive benefits in reducing or giving up smoking. Our nurses are able to offer advice on smoking cessation, and if necessary refer you to other support services in the Leeds area.
The local NHS service in Leeds is the Leeds Smoking Service which may be contacted on 0800 1694219 during normal office hours.
Coronory Heart Disease (CHD)
Sr. Tracy Clapham conducts special clinics to monitor, review and support those patients with CHD. The clinic may include a check of cholesterol, blood pressure and weight, along with dietary and exercise advice, and review/assessment of medication.
Diabetic Clinics
Diabetes care is a practice speciality and Fiona Needham, our Nurse Practitioner, has particular expertise in this area, and organises Diabetic care, Diabetes clinics and patient education sessions. Fiona will directly contact patients based on their individual needs.
Minor Surgery
Our doctors will undertake some minor surgery procedures and joint injections within the practice. Patients may be offered minor surgery if they have a condition which may be treated locally – the doctor will let you know about your condition and the procedure itself, and arrange for you to attend a special session.
These sessions are usually conducted by Dr Allen
Private Services and Fees
The surgery is contracted to the NHS to provide a range of health services to patients. A number of other services are frequently requested by patients which are not an NHS service, and these therefore attract a private medical fee, payable in advance, and a notice period is usually required. The acceptance of any non-NHS work, such as those listed below and on the Table of Fees, is at the discretion of the practice.
Fee levels are reviewed on a regular basis and patients are advised to check the current fee on the Table of Fees, which can be accessed from this page, before requesting a service.
Historically, private fee levels have been recommended by the British Medical Association, but in recent years the fees have been set by individual practices. We believe that our fees are among the lowest in the area.
Any enquiries relating to private services and fees may be directed to our private services administrator, Mrs L Freeman
A full list of fees can be found HERE (Opens in a new window)
Medicals
Medical reports for employment purposes should be requested via your employer. Self-employed patients (only) may make direct contact with the practice. Fees vary according to whether a full examination is required, or whether a report may be prepared from medical records only.
Copies of Medical Records
Under the provisions of The Data Protection Act 1988, you may view your Medical Record (for which there is a small fee). You will need to apply in writing (a form is available at reception) and access will normally be granted within 21 working days of the request. There is no facility for immediate access.
Private Vaccinations
Vaccinations provided as an NHS service do not generally include those related to foreign travel. A list of those fees which the practice offers as a private medical service are given in the private fees table accessible from the bottom of this page. Please also see our page on Travel Advice
