Nurse Practitioner

Fiona Needham (MSc BSc (Hons) SRN RGN)

Fiona is our our Advanced Nurse Practitioner. She qualified with a BSc (Hons.) in Nursing Studies in 1985. She has been a Senior Sister on a dialysis unit and has worked as a Practice Nurse since 1991.To qualify as a Nurse Practitioner, Fiona received training from Dr. Nick Allen and gained a Master's Degree in Nurse Practitioner Studies at Leeds Metropolitan University. Fiona has obtained diplomas in diabetes, cervical and breast screening and coronary heart disease.

 

Sister Tracy Clapham (SRN)

Tracy trained at Wharfedale General Hospital in Otley qualifying in 1985 as a State Enrolled Nurse, subsequently working on all of the wards including 5 years in the Minor Injuries Unit. Tracy become a State Registered Nurse in 1999 and moved to be a Staff Nurse in the Accident & Emergency department at Leeds General Infirmary.

During her time in A&E Tracy completed courses in Advanced Trauma, suturing, life support, ECG Interpretation, X Ray Interpretation, Emergency Triage and others. In 2001 completion of training as an Emergency Nurse Practitioner for minor injuries was followed by a move to St James’s Hospital in Leeds. Tracy then moved as a Practice Nurse to Beeston before moving to Charles Street Surgery in 2006.

She has qualifications in cervical cytology, and diplomas in Diabetes and Coronary Heart Disease, and has interests in travel health, smoking cessation and leg ulcer care

 

Sister Dawn Brady (SRN)

Dawn trained at Airedale Hospital where she worked in Outpatients, and subsequently worked as a Public Health School Nurse, a factory nurse, and a nurse at a private hospital in general surgery, medical, gynaecology, and Ear Nose & Throat (ENT) departments.

She subsequently moved to practice nursing 12 years ago with a post in Bradford before moving to Charles Street Surgery in early 2003.

Dawn has special interests in Asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Family Planning / Sexual Health, Minor Surgery and Travel Medicine, and holds diplomas in these as well as in Spirometry and Diabetes. She has completed courses in Ear care, Travel medicine, Childhood Immunisations, Cytology, Smoking Cessation, Phlebotomy and CPR, and keeps up to date with current research

 

Sister Karen Sweeting (SEN)

Karen trained at Seacroft / Killingbeck Hospital in 1976 as a State Enrolled Nurse, subsequently working on medical, infectious diseases and Ear Nose & Throat surgery.

She qualified as a District Nurse in 1979 working in and around the North and West Leeds area. Karen moved into practice nursing in 1991 in Chapeltown, Alwoodley and Seacroft practices before coming to Charles Street in 2001. She has completed courses in Cytology, Travel Medicine, Childhood Immunisations, Ear care, Smoking Cessation, Phlebotomy, Leg Ulcer Care, Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Chronic Heart Disease, and keeps up to date with current research
