Practice Information

Charles Street Surgery is situated in a purpose-built medical practice building close to the heart of Otley, near to the shops and the bus station.

The Practice has been in Otley for many years, the original partners Drs Rhodes and Rushton both worked here for more than fifty years, practicing in cramped conditions on Bridge Street and Gay Lane.

In November 1986 a £280,000 our purpose-built surgery was designed constructed from an old Gas Board Land near the centre of the town, and the practice moved from its two sites into this new one. In 1999, after a two-year planning process this building was then extended by another 50%, at a cost of £230,000.

The Doctors operate as a partnership, contracted under the Personal Medical Services contract to Leeds North West Primary Care Trust.

Telephone the usual practice number for a message giving the correct Out of Hours contact number when we are closed (generally this is for overnight calls, however this can vary from time to time). You can also ring NHS Direct anytime on 0845 4647 for 24 hour advice.

Surgeries across Leeds do close for 10 afternoons each year for combined training (not in August or December), and urgent cover is again provided by Leeds Primary Care Trust on (0345 605 99 99) – again our telephone system will automatically provide this. The training afternoon closure dates are listed on our entrance door and are available from reception.
