Working in general practice is a complex business and increasingly the changes introduced by the government, the Department of Health, and the NHS place major demands on the staff to meet quality health targets and legislative or operational standards.  Our reception and administrative staff need to be highly trained to deal with a wide variety of circumstances in a rapidly changing health world, and as generated by our patients on a daily basis.

The practice has over 7000 patients all of whom have different needs!

We utilise the best in IT systems and technology within the practice to cope with, and record the large amounts of information which pass through the surgery daily and this is backed up by formal protocols and procedures which help to determine the best way to deal with both emergencies and the more routine queries.

Staff

Our staff are very experienced in all aspects of patient administration and are trained in the use of our technologies, and will act as your first point of contact in the practice. In dealing with your affairs they may ask you questions which are designed to ensure that you are dealt with by the most appropriate person.

Often, the questions you may be asked are dictated by specified operating procedures which may apply in a variety of circumstances – please help them by providing them with the information they need to do their job effectively! Where you are asked for personal health information please give this where you feel able, as this is required by your doctor.
   

All staff employed by the practice have dual roles, and specialise in other aspects relating to patient care. Some of these staff may have contact with patients on a regular basis relating to their work, and a list of the Key Contacts for these is given below. If you need to speak to them please ring reception and you will be advised of the best time to telephone the contact person.

Medical Secretaries

The medical secretaries deal with referrals, letters and other items on behalf of the doctors, and may answer your queries of this nature. They may also contact patients direct from time to time on behalf of the doctors.

Assistant Practice Manager

Mrs C Ross - Assistant Practice Manager

Mrs C Ross joined the practice in 2006, and as well as deputising deals extensively with her own portfolio of developmental project work and research into systems, targets and procedures relating to patient care.

Practice Manager

Steve Morris has been the Manager at the practice for over 7 years, joining in 2000 from nearly 30 years in the financial sector.

He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and looks after the commercial, administration, financial, performance and development planning aspects of the practice.
